Greetings!
It
is officially summer! Hopefully
this means you will take an exciting summer trip or
trips. Wherever you find yourself, may you be safe and have a
great time. Drinks lots of water and don't forget the sun screen.
"Green",
and not "Grease", is the word. Thus, this newsletter - like
the last issue - is green heavy. First, you will find information on
the Green Economy Webinar hosted by the Centers of Excellence this
coming Monday, June 29th. In addition, this issue contains two
excellent articles titled "Small Steps for Women in a Green
Economy" and "Preparing the Workforce for a 'Green Jobs'
Economy." We have also added a video titled "Green Jobs:
Hope or Hype?" and a new resource tool from the
Environmental Defense Fund.
COMING SOON
are the following two environmental scans concerning the Orange County
region: Health Information Technology (HIT) and Information and
Communications Technology (ICT). Keep a look out for an email
containing these reports. To access other environmental scans or
reports, please visit us at www.coeccc.net.
Given your role in
Orange County, you have been automatically added to our distribution
list. You may unsubscribe or forward this newsletter using the
links at the bottom of this e-mail. Please enjoy this publication
and send us any suggestions for feedback.
Happy summer!

Understanding the Green Economy
In recent months, there is perhaps no subject creating more
interest than "going green." Each week brings
new entries to the flurry of reports addressing the green
economy's potential impact on the state. And it is clear that California's
community colleges will play a critical role in training a new,
green-collar workforce. But just what is a green economy? And
where are these green employers and green jobs
exactly?
The Centers of Excellence research into emerging industries and
occupations revealed a need to answer these questions from a community
college perspective. Click here to register

difficulty women face in becoming part of a greener U.S. economy. While

green job creation some worry that women will not have equal access to
positions in traditionally male-dominated construction and
manufacturing industries. Click here for full report
